Introducing the Orchestra
The Portobello Orchestra is made up from a lively, friendly, innovative group of amateur musicians. It meets weekly in term time for rehearsals at Lancaster Road Methodist Church, and gives three or four public concerts a year. The distinctive ethos of the orchestra is its friendliness and openness to all who are enthusiastic about playing music, including those with limited experience of orchestral playing. Social life extends beyond the rehearsals. Many members meet for a drink after Monday rehearsals. Chamber music sessions are set up on other evenings by individual members of the orchestra.
